Although the OS can be installed on unsupported processors, Microsoft does not guarantee the availability of updates. Windows 11 no longer supports 32-bit x86 and ARM CPUs or devices that use BIOS firmware.
The reception of Windows 11 at launch was mixed. Pre-release discussions mainly revolved around the stricter hardware requirements and whether they were genuinely aimed at improving security or a strategy to push customers towards newer devices, with concerns raised about the associated e-waste. Upon release, it was praised for its improved visual design, window management, and stronger security focus. However, criticism was directed at certain modifications to the user interface that were considered inferior to its predecessor, and some changes were seen as an attempt to discourage users from switching to competing applications.
